We've got some big news to share: For the past year, we've been heads-down on the most significant update Hightag has ever seen—and over the next month, we'll be rolling it out for the world to see. Hightag 2.0 is a full rebuild of the platform that powers our action capture network, from the cameras on the trails and slopes to the app on your phone. The result is a dramatically better app experience, more reliable and efficient cameras, and higher quality footage of you riding than ever before.
Up until now, using Hightag has meant that you need to stick an RFID tag on your bike, board, etc. and link it to your account. Hightag 2.0 takes an entirely different approach: The new system is designed around a GPS-based trigger, using location data from the Hightag app to activate cameras as you ride past. If you've ever tracked a ride or run using Strava, the experience will feel familiar: open the app, hit "start", and go. No tag. No linking extra hardware. Just your phone.
And, because your phone is doing the work, Hightag is no longer tied to a specific bike, board, or helmet. As long as your account is activated, you're ready for every session. Bike park on Friday, ski resort on Saturday—it's all the same seamless experience, no matter where or what you're riding.
We rebuilt the video pipeline from the ground up. Clips from the new cameras are sharper, smoother, and more consistent than enything we've delivered before—cleaner motion, richer color, and social media-ready. The footage finally looks the way the ride actually felt. We think you're going to love it.
Hightag 2.0 has been a long time coming, and we're thrilled to finally get it into your hands. None of this happens without the athletes who've been with us from the start. So, sincerely, thank you. If any questions come up as we roll this out, we'd love to hear from you. Drop us a line anytime. We can't wait to show you what's next.
